Inspired by the mountains far and near. Our performance eyewear takes design elements from the raw edges of rugged terrain to the soft natural colour palates of isolated landscapes.
We knew our debut Eyewear capsule had to be different and had to treat mother earth right.
With our commitment to sustainability the PYRA eyewear collection is made with Biodegradable Acetate, meaning instead of using petroleum like traditional acetate ours is made from Vegetable oil, primarily soy based which is a bioplastic. The performance characteristics are identical to conventional acetate.
Our ‘Green Nylon’ lenses are made with 39% plant (castor) oils. Their performance is identical to conventional lenses, however their footprint at the raw material stage is significantly lowered. These are energy saving and carbon sequestering lenses—the future of optics.
Our packaging is sourced with 100% recycled PET microfibre cloth, as well as 100% recycled PET leather-like hard case in black, all the cardboard box made with recycled paper and card.
Our commitment to sustainability extends beyond eyewear manufacturing. For every frame made, we plant a tree with our reforestation partner, Eden Projects.
The current time for a traditional pair of eyewear to decomposes is 1000 years. Only 1% of the world’s eyewear is Biodegradable. We knew we had to be part of that 1%.
